A creative community telling its own story.
Founded in 2012 by Donald Unanka — writer, curator, filmmaker, and polio survivor — Potters Gallery is a disability-led organization where art meets advocacy.

From a single voice to a national movement.
Potters Gallery Initiative was founded in 2012 by Donald Unanka, with a quiet conviction: that the lives of persons with disabilities deserve to be told — by us, on our own terms, through the universal language of art.
What began as a small collective of disabled artists has grown into a vibrant community of young, passionate, goal-oriented creators across Nigeria. Together, we tell stories of marginalization through dance, drama, poetry, film, and movement — making bold statements that educate, entertain, and challenge society.
For us, the word "Potter" is a biblical place of learning. We are the leaders of our generation, and we believe inclusion isn't an aspiration — it's a responsibility.

Art. Inclusion. Advocacy.
We don't ask for a seat at the table — we build new ones. Through deep research into our culture, traditions, and values, we craft programs designed to build capacity, strengthen livelihoods, and reshape how Nigeria sees disability.
Our storytelling techniques — through dance, drama, poetry, and movement — use the body itself as a tool for conveying messages with creative aesthetics integration.
